Description: BACKGROUNDThe Ministry of Health (MOH) in Lao People’s Democratic Republic has made substantial progress in strengthening surveillance and response capacities to manage health security threats, including Covid-19. As the country moves towards the sustained management of Covid-19 with existing surveillance, and more broadly the Emerging Molecular Pathogen Characterization Technologies (‎EMPaCT)‎ Surveillance Network- there is a need to provide strategic level guidance to the MOH.Part of the EMPaCT program is strengthening capacity to rapidly detect, monitor and assess clinical, epidemiology and laboratory information for public health action. The overarching objective of EMPaCT to ensure that Lao People’s Democratic Republic is well-prepared for current and future pandemics.
